12th IAGG Master Class on Ageing
Event Report
Dear Tutors, Sub-tutors, and delegates of the 12th IAGG Master Class on Ageing.
Many thanks for your participation in the 12th IAGG Master Class on Ageing held at the University of Tokyo from May 22 to 24, 2024. The IAGG Master Class on Ageing in Asia is an educational program held annually since 2011 to foster young geriatricians and form a research network in Asia. 44 delegates from various Asian countries attended the class this year. This year was the first time in about 5 years that the program had been held since it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to Koichi Kozaki, Masahiro Akishita, Hidenori Arai, and Koichi Yamamoto from Japan, four tutors, Liang-Kung Chen (Taiwan), Li-Ning Peng (Taiwan), Chang Won Won (Korea), and Maw Pin Tan (Malaysia) from overseas (8 in total) were invited to give lectures. 5 sub-tutors, including Chih-Kuang Liang (Taiwan), Ming-Yueh Chou (Taiwan), Ashish Goel (India), Taro Kojima (Japan), and Kotaro Azuma (Japan) supervised case studies and poster presentation discussions. A total of 57 participants engaged in enthusiastic discussions on the latest findings in geriatrics, making for a very lively workshop. Each delegate provided research presentations, and the best presentation from each group was presented in front of the entire audience on the final day and awarded. This Master Class was co-sponsored by the Japan Geriatrics Society, the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, and the IAGG. The next Master Class will be held in Malaysia in 2025.
